Abstract
The purpose of this study is to identify the dual mediating effects of deliberate rumination and time perspective in the relationship between intrusive rumination and post-traumatic growth in adulthood. For this study, a questionnaire was administered to 627 adults nationwide. Of 587 collected sets of data, after excluding unreliable copies, 452 were chosen to be used. The results of this study were as follows. Firstly, there was significant difference in posttraumatic growth by sex, age, religion, marital status. By period of the traumatic experience, no difference was found in posttraumatic growth. Secondly, concerning the relative effect of each variable on posttraumatic growth, deliberate rumination was found have the biggest influence, followed by future time perspective, marital status, present-hedonistic time perspective, religion, past-positive time perspective and present-fatalistic time perspective. Thirdly, deliberate rumination, and past-positive, present-hedonistic, and future time perspective were found to have complete dual mediation on the relationship between intrusive rumination and posttraumatic growth. The significance of this study is that it has provided a basis for specific interventions on posttraumatic growth in adulthood by examining dual mediating effects of deliberate rumination and time perspective on the relationship between intrusive rumination and posttraumatic growth.
